Mossel Bay has the smallest working, commercial harbour of the coastal cities and towns in South Africa. Fishing boats deliver fresh fish twice a week to Vikings and Irvin & Johnston for despatch inland. The locals and those in the know also purchase fresh fish from the retail outlet at the harbour.
A recently built fish factory significantly adds to the employment opportunities in Mossel Bay.
Occasionally a passenger liner throws anchor in the bay of Mossel Bay for passengers to be shipped into the harbour with a smaller boat. A well known and well established yacht club is situated here which offers sailing to the schools as a sport.
